The short version
- Your map, trips and photos stay on your iPhone.
- No account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- We don't collect your personal data.
This policy explains how mappd: Travel Map Tracker ("mappd", "the app"), made by Grillz App Studio ("we", "us"), handles your information. mappd works without an account, and everything you add lives on your own device.
What we don't do
- No account or sign-in. We never ask for your name or email.
- No advertising and no third-party advertising networks.
- No analytics, no tracking SDKs, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- We don't sell or share your data, because we don't have it.
Your travel data stays on your device
Everything you add in mappd is stored only on your iPhone, including:
- the countries you've visited and your wishlist
- your trips, cities and first-visit years
- photos you add to country pages
- the handle you choose to show on share cards
- your answers during onboarding
The app does not upload any of this to our servers or anyone else's. Like other app data, iOS may include it in your own device or iCloud backups, which are controlled by you and Apple.
Location
If you allow it, mappd uses your location only while you're using the app, to show where you are on your map. This happens entirely on your device. Your location is never stored by the app and never sent anywhere. You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings, and the app still works.
Photos
mappd only sees the photos you choose to add. When you pick a photo, a copy is saved inside the app on your device. When you save a share card to your photo library, the app asks for add-only access, so it can save the image without seeing your other photos.
City search
When you search for a city, mappd uses Apple's MapKit search. The city name you type is sent to Apple to find that place's location. Apple handles this under its own privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.
Purchases and subscriptions
mappd Pro is bought and processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see your payment details.
We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives purchase and transaction information from Apple and an anonymous app user ID created by the app. It does not receive your name or email. Read RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Sharing
Nothing is shared unless you choose to share it. When you tap share, mappd opens the standard iOS share sheet and you decide where your card goes. Once shared, it's handled by the app or service you picked.
Deleting your data
- Use Reset map (in About & settings) to erase all of your travel data.
- Deleting the app from your iPhone also removes everything stored in it.
- Subscriptions are separate: manage or cancel them in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Children
mappd is not directed at children under 13. The app does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If a change is significant, we'll also let you know in the app.
